Aurora hunting is about being in the right place when the sky opens up. Before and during the tour your guide checks aurora forecasts, cloud maps and live weather, and plans a flexible route around the Saariselkä, Kakslauttanen and Inari area. If it is cloudy where you are staying, we drive to look for a clear sky elsewhere.
You travel in a comfortable, warm Mercedes-Benz vehicle and step out at dark, open places away from village lights. When the lights appear, we show you how to photograph them — and on our tours you receive our photos after the trip.

No — and nobody honestly can. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon that depends on solar activity and clear skies. What we can promise is local knowledge, a flexible route and every reasonable effort to find a gap in the clouds.
If poor weather is forecast, you can manage your booking through FareHarbor or by contacting us.
How to prepare
Dress in warm layers, with a warm hat, gloves and winter boots — you will spend time standing outside at night.
Bring a fully charged phone or camera and a spare battery; batteries drain fast in the cold.
Have your accommodation name and pickup point ready when you book.
When is aurora season?
In Saariselkä the nights are dark enough for the Northern Lights roughly from late August to early April. During the light summer nights the aurora is not visible. Clear, cold nights often give the best views.
